Space, the Final Frontier

Space, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise. Its continuing mission to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilization, to boldly go where no one has gone before… (that's the intro to next generation, the original is different (5 year mission instead of continuing, and no man has gone before instead of no one) (I'm a nerd)
I was going to post this last week but the life of Pi thing came up.  So here is the space blog that was promised.
I’m going to write about Space.  Why?  Because space is f***ing cool and I am a giant nerd.

First things first, space is big.  Like REALLY big.  Space is also cold and dark and no one will hear your screams.  And those are all boring pieces of information the average 7 year old would know.  We’re not going to talk about that.

What we’re actually going to talk about are dyson spheres (and like other stuff, but first dyson spheres).  Now a dyson sphere is a “hypothetical  mega structure that completely encompasses a star and captures a more or less large percentage of its power output” (courtesy of wikipedia).  Basically it’s a really big sphere around a star that would allow like a colony or civilization to live in/on it.  Now these are commonly seen in sci fi books and shows (like season 6 episode 4 “Relics” in Star Trek the Next Generation (I’m a NERD~)).  And fiction is all well and good, but what is there was a real one.  Meet KIC 8462852, a star, but not just any star, a SPECIAL star.  Now KIC 8462852 has a lot of light fluctuations that don’t have a clear cause.  There are bunch of boring ones (weird rings, exoplanets, the star ATE A F***ING PLANET, ect. . .) and one fun one.  Well some people thing there's some form of Dyson object around it and that's really cool.  Of course scentists think it's one of the boring explanations (I'm hoping for planet eating) and no one has any proof besides the whole weird fluctuations.  I'm linking you to some info below, if you care.

Another cool thing, let's talk about a Kuiper belt object.  'What's the Kuiper belt? Why does it have objects?  Why am I still reading this boring-ass blog post?' are all questions you might be asking yourself.  Well the Kuiper belt is like the asteroid belt but it's around farther out, past all the gas giants.  And while you might not know about the belt, you have heard of one of it's objects, Pluto.  I hate how everyone wants Pluto back as a planet.  It's a Kuiper belt object, maybe a dwarf planet if you want to be generous.  The only reason it was ever  thought of as a planet was due to us having crappy telescopes.  It's not a planet, it never was one, and everyone needs to chill out about it.
So that was a lot of space crap.  One more thing, there is probably an ocean on Europa, one of Jupiter's moons.  The links right bellow are about the special star.  Oh and update on life of pi:  I'm like halfway through my essay and the book is still garbage.  Good Night!
