The Apex Cult- I mean Cohort
Welcome to Apex, the Advanced Placement Experience? Like APE? Is it E-Xperience? Who knows. Well the google dictionary defines apex as, "the top or highest part of something, especially one forming a point." So that's pretty cool, we're the highest point of the school. I honestly thought the highest point of the school was one of the bathrooms where the smoke detector magically doesn't work. What is the Apex program you ask? http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/wjhs/programs/apex/ Well there's a lot of good descriptors and information about the totally not cult.
So now that you have read all about Apex lets talk about the cult aspect. People outside of Apex seem to think it's a cult. Well that just silly, as Apex director (or something) Apex Kathy Simmons has said approximately 1,000,000,000,000,000 times (all numbers are estimated) it's a "Cohort". Not a cult, a cohort.
Being in Apex isn't all that different to just taking all honors and AP classes. The teachers are different, there are some differing assignments depending on the class, but it's pretty much the same. The one difference is all your Apex classes are with other fine young Apex Scholars like yourself because it's a cohort.
In summary, not a cult, pretty boring, ALL HAIL THE GREAT COHORT.
